A Rabbit Appears
Gel prints, collage, and the early stages of a painting that might be about the Moon Rabbit.
I have lots of specific ideas for a series of work I’d like to make over the next few months. I recently signed up for a 14-week program called the Creative Visionary Program, which starts March 20. I’ll keep you posted on that. My hope is that it helps me get more in touch with the kind of work I really want to make.
But today I decided to just play around. Honestly, that’s probably the key to making good work anyway… even though I do have a goal of becoming more intentional.
I made some gel prints, did a quick bunny drawing (because bunnies make me happy), and then cut and pasted everything onto a wood panel. Now I have to decide where to go from here.
I like the composition, but I’m not loving that blue. It needs to dry before I keep going. I might make some more tissue prints and add a bit more collage. And Paint!
I’m also thinking about leaning into a little symbolism with the idea of the Moon Rabbit. When I looked it up, I found this description: in East Asian traditions, the rabbit is said to live on the moon, symbolizing longevity, sacrifice, and the reflection of life’s cycles.
Sometimes the concept comes last.
